What Is Celebrated On The 25th Of November In Suriname?

What Is Celebrated On The 25th Of November In Suriname? Hello my dearest Story Time fans from around the world, in this Story Time edition we are going to talk about the national independence day of the Democratic Republic of Suriname.  Suriname became independent on the 25th of November 1975 from the Netherlands.  Queen Juliana from the Dutch monarchy was the ruler in the period that the Republic of Suriname became independent.  Premiere Henck Arron from the National Party Suriname, did not want to stall our independence any longer and put in the effort to make it possible for the colony Suriname to be transformed into the Independent Democratic Republic of Suriname. This multi-cultural/ethnic country is a part of both the Caribbean and South America.  If you are new to my blog don't forget to subscribe when you see that Story Time U.F.O. pop-up.  By subscribing you won't miss any of my Story Time adventures that take place inside or outside of Suriname.  Grilled Chicken Spinach Burger From Meat Us Hi guys, I'm happy to return with another Story Time episode. We're approaching the end of November. Doesn't time go by fast? Before you know it, the year will be at its end. In other countries, the season of giving is already celebrated. But here in Suriname, we're counting down the days to celebrate our " srefidensi". Srefidensi is a sranang tongo word that means independence, to be free and act according to one's own will. On the 25th of November in the year 1975 Suriname became an independent country. Previously we were a colony that belonged to the Dutch. How they acquired us is another story! I'll be publishing stories regarding our Independence Day soon. So make sure that you subscribe to my blog!👽👾🛸 By subscribing you'll be the first to receive my adventures and stories straight in your inbox. In this Story Time episode, we'll be talking about " Meat Us". This restaurant belong

Trapped As A doll!

Trapped As A Doll Selene has been stuck in Ceramic land for the last 40 years. It all began when she was traveling with her parents. Back then she was just a 6-year-old girl. Her father had family members on the other side of the mountain. They were going to visit them for the winter. She remembered the day she left her house. They lived in a small but cozy wooden cabin on the top of the greenest mountain on the east side. Her mother had packed goat cheese and milk for their long journey. Selene's father had let her know in advance that it would be a long journey. Her parents wanted to get to the top of the snowy mountains within 4 days. They had harvested some corn during the summer. The cobs that were left over were packed to bring along on the trip. She remembered looking back at the wooden cabin as they walked into the sunset. Her older brother would stay behind to look after their house for the winter. When she said goodbye to Chris, he had wrapped her in a big green blanke

A lesson in kindness

A Lesson In Kindness I’m a poet, if you cut through my veins they will bleed words. But these words are not mere words. They are pieces of my story! My every sorrow and worry. They are also the marks of those I loved, they are the seeds of those I’ve fed. They are the product of all the warmth I’ve put out in the universe. It’s spelled out in the tender care that I’ve gotten back from those I serve. Kindness healed all the stains on my soul. I discovered the true power of the crown, and I was finally whole. My looking glass tears apart the syllables etched in each person's spirit. But when I saw my reflection within them, for a brief moment we were one unit. In my book of life, it's easier to understand than to be understood. That’s why this new connection elevated me for the greater good. Yet my thoughts have scrambled together that I’m nothing but a wandering spirit. One that’s too aware of the centuries of evolution that had to take place before your eyes could read these

Caramel Fudge Brownies From The Brownie Bar Hello my sweet tooth lovers from around the world, how have you guys been? Of course, I had to come back with a delicious story! Lighting Dia In Suriname For Subh Divali

Lighting Dia In Suriname For Subh Divali Subh Divali, my Story Time Production friends from around the world!🪔 Today Diwali is celebrated in Suriname. As I mentioned many times before on my blog, Suriname is a multicultural country! In this South-American/Caribbean country many religions and cultures from all parts of the world have found their home. In 1873 the first Indians arrived in Suriname as immigrants. Most of them were tricked to come work on the plantations in a country far away from their home and families. I even remember seeing a documentary about a woman who had survived the Surinamese immigration. She had told in her story that she was tricked to leave her family. It was never her intention to leave India, but she was forced to come to Suriname by her captors. Despite the sad history of our ancestors, we Surinamese people have come together. We share each others food, cultures and traditions. The Indian immigrants who came to Suriname introduced us to the delicious f
