Shadows Of Love

Can you feel the self-love tonight?

Story Time: Can you feel self-love tonight? How have you guys been? Welcome back to a new Story Time self-love article. Can someone unleash the drum rolls, please?  Today I am radiating self-love toward all of you. I mean can we afford to not do that with all the crazy things that are happening in the world? Plus life is short and look at how fast I turned 29!  So having said that I am choosing to live my life and the first place to start is by taking care of ourselves and our own needs. Yaay for how self-love gives us the ability to choose for ourselves. Something that seems to be difficult for a lot of people. I used to be one of those people and I have to be honest sometimes I still struggle with it. But I am acting from a better place, the more I learn the more I grow.  You can't keep pouring from an empty cup, what good would that do for other people or yourself?  Sometimes we just need to learn to stand strong on our own, not to isolate ourselves from the worl

P&G roti shop

Story Time: Roti Hunting at P&G in Suriname How are you guys? I am back with a new Story Time adventure. This time we are going on a hunt for roti.  Indian food is one of the many varieties that the Surinamese kitchen has to offer.  In 1873 the first immigrants from India arrived in Suriname on a big sailboat named the Lalla Rookh.  There was a sudden need for immigrants in this once-thriving colony.  In 1863 slavery was abolished in this once dutch, and for a short, while British colony ( It's a long story, let's leave that for another Story Time) When slavery was abolished in Suriname, the plantation owners didn't immediately set the slaves free.  Instead, they received a contract where they still had to work on the plantations for the following 10 years.  But they would receive low wages and better treatment. When the 10 years passed by they were free to go their own way.  The plantation owners and of course the motherland had to experiment to find new

How to heal writer's trauma?

How to heal writers' trauma? How are my dearest Story Time readers from around the world doing? I have missed you guys so much! If you are new here don't forget to jump onto the Story Time U.F.O. so that we can go on a lot of self-love adventures together.  And I am planning to go on a lot of adventures this year. As you can see in this recent picture of mine, I am very tired! What can I say, one way or another with all the different adventures that I experience I manage to wear different kinds of capes in the world! Now that is no easy task, because of it I can relate more to the Superheroes we watch on T.V. and read about! Imagine how hard it is to run an empire and at the same time go save the city every night? The Bats don't play around with that. Yes, I am tipping my toes around copyright claims haha.  Despite being very tired and running a busy life I still find a way to fuel my creativity.  I am sure every writer can relate to that struggle

Warung Alensis

Story Time: Visiting warung Alensis Hello my dearest Story Time reader, how are you doing? Today I want to share another food spot that I found with you guys. On the Martin Luther King weg ( that is the street name) you will find a small cozy warung called Alensis.  Suriname offers a large variety of delicious Javanese food. I love all kinds of Surinamese food, but I have to admit that some part of me has a weakness for Javanese food. When you enter warung Alensis apart from the unique decoration and interior design you will find that they serve different traditional Javanese dishes.  For this visit I was in the mood for bami,  I might have an unhealthy affair with bami. Bami is a famous Surinamese dish of Javanese origin. It's basically a type of stir-fried noodles with chicken and sometimes this includes some long bean vegetables, baked bananas and we cannot forget the pepper. When I think of Javanese food, spicey automatically comes to mind. It makes me nosta
