Part 3- A Fated Meeting

The air in the opulent hotel lobby seemed to hum with unspoken tension, thick with the scent of tropical flowers and Jiang Bao's disbelief. There she stood, barely an arm's length away, the woman from his dreams, the very reason he'd fled to this island paradise. Her sharp voice had cut through the tranquil morning, pulling him from his daze, and now her eyes, those unsettlingly familiar eyes, were fixed on him.

"I believe I was here before you!" she stated, her gaze unwavering as she stood up beside her luggage, a vibrant splash of color against the polished marble floor.

Jiang Bao felt a jolt, not just of recognition, but of something more profound, a resonance that echoed the ancient visions haunting his sleep. He heard his own voice, almost a whisper, "It's you again, the woman with the pink umbrella."

Her brow furrowed, a flicker of confusion crossing her face. "What are you talking about?"

He pressed on, a strange certainty overriding his usual composure. "You mistook me for your neighbor's son. Pao, right?"

A slow dawning of realization spread across her features. Her lips parted slightly, a soft "Oh, that's right, now I remember you!" escaping them. The memory, a fleeting, awkward moment under a sudden downpour, seemed trivial against the monumental feeling swirling within him, but for her, it was simply a past interaction.

Jiang Bao couldn't help but smile. "Funny meeting you again, but only this time we meet all the way across the world."

Before she could respond, the woman behind the reception desk, whose patience was clearly wearing thin amidst the glittering opulence, interjected with a clipped tone. "Excuse me, who can I help first?" Her eyes darted between the two of them, clearly annoyed by the unexpected, personal drama unfolding in her queue.

Jiang Bao glanced at the receptionist, then back at the woman. The moment, charged with a profound, almost spiritual significance for him, was being abruptly brought back to mundane reality. He knew, with an undeniable certainty, that this was no mere coincidence. Destiny had a rather inconvenient sense of timing.

" Xing Lie & Jiang Bao Strolling On The Beach in Hawaii"

Xing Lie quickly handed her passport to the receptionist. Jiang Bao patiently waited for his turn. The receptionist typed fast on her computer. The scent of Xing Lie's perfume was lingering in the air. Its seductive, sweet scent tempted Jiang Bao. She was wearing the same brand as the last time they met. He inhaled her fragrance, and as the pheromones traveled to his brain, a whirlwind of emotions went loose! Memories of their past lives were fighting to surface. But the pressure they carried with him was too much for Jiang Bao's mind. He suffered from a severe headache as visions of a field with pink flowers appeared in front of him. He felt dizzy, and just before he passed out, he saw Miking dancing in the flower field. She reached out her hand as if she were calling him to join her. A hard thud echoed in the reception hall as Jiang Bao's skull bashed against the floor.

"Miking dancing in a field with pink flowers"

Blood dripped from his nose, and Jiang Bao became unconscious. His vision became dark, and he was transported to another lifetime. When he woke up, his head hurt! It felt as if someone banged on his skull with a hammer. The pain was unbearable! His vision tried to adjust to his surroundings. When the blur faded from his eyesight, he realized he was in a small wooden cabin. Why had the hotel staff placed him on this uncomfortable bed instead of in his hotel room? He got up from the hard bed and realized that he wasn't wearing the same clothes. Someone had dressed him in old, ugly brown robes. He looked around and saw that the cabin was almost empty. Except for this bamboo bed, there was only a wooden table with a nightlight placed on it. Jiang Bao struggled to stand on his feet. There was a bright light coming from the only door in the cabin. He stepped out and felt the heat of the sun burn his face. The ocean was right outside. He was surprised the beach was empty. He expected to see lots of tourists relaxing on beach chairs. Something didn't feel right. The view was beautiful and peaceful, and a seagull had just landed on the sand. Nothing about this gorgeous view seemed out of the ordinary.  But his gut felt uneasy! Ignoring his instincts, he stepped on the sand barefoot.  He burned his feet and jumped around, cursing.
Instant regret arose as he ran towards a cool spot under some coconut trees. He looked around, and there was still no sight of life! He didn't notice any chairs or umbrellas. On the entire beach, there was not one bar in sight. Where am I, Jiang Bao wondered to himself? Refusing to believe he had been abandoned, he decided to go into the tropical forest. Surely he couldn't be too far from the hotel! Thankfully, the ground was much cooler under the shade of all these trees. He began to sweat from pushing the thick branches and leaves out of his face. The sun was about to set, and the sky turned into hues of red and dark grey. A storm was brewing, and Jiang Bao hadn't stumbled upon any signs of human life. He instantly regretted leaving the cabin by the beach. In mere minutes, the sky had turned black, and thunder struck! The falling raindrops were so large that it felt as if stones were being thrown on Jiang Bao's skin. The ground became muddy and unstable. He slipped a few times. A messy fall in the mud that even the rain couldn't wash off.  Just as he was about to lose all hope, he noticed a cave beside a mango tree. He rushed towards the tree and picked some ripe fruits. When his hands were full, he went into the cave.
At least he was protected from the rain. It was freezing, but hunger didn't allow him to notice.
He bit into the mango and savored its sweet nectar. Footsteps and a yellow light approached him. He heard a soft voice speak. " Ho Yung, is that you? Have you finally returned home?". When he looked up from his mango, he saw Xing Lie, the woman with the pink umbrella.
