Swimming at Radisson Hotel in Paramaribo
The New Radisson Hotel Paramaribo: Juicy Salmon, Best Cheesecake, and Bathroom Surprises? 🏨✨
Hey everyone, Shachem here from Story Time Production! 🎥✨
First off, I owe you guys a huge apology! 🙈 I know I’m a bit late with this story, but as you’ve read in my previous episodes, I’m currently on a massive content sprint trying to catch up with my backlog. The hustle is real, but the stories are too good to keep in the vault! 🏃♀️💨
Back in January, a friend and I decided to check out the newly opened Radisson Hotel Paramaribo. For the locals and regulars, you know this used to be the iconic Hotel Krasnapolsky. It’s had a major rebrand, but is it actually the best hotel in Paramaribo right now? Well... let’s get into the tea. ☕️
First Impressions: Maintenance Mode 🛠️
Walking into the lobby, it was clear that the transition from Krasnapolsky to Radisson is still a work in progress. Maintenance was visible everywhere you looked. To be honest, the hotel service felt a bit shaky—the staff didn't quite seem prepared or used to receiving guests yet. 🏨💨
The Bathroom Incident 🛑
Now, I’m all for a modern vibe, but this was too much. I headed to the ladies' room and was shocked to find a group of construction men inside. It was super uncomfortable, especially since one of them wouldn't stop staring at my body like a total pervert. 🙄 Definitely not the "premium hospitality" experience you’d expect, and a major mood killer for the day.
The "Swimming Pass" Experience 🏊♀️🐟
Despite the awkward start, we were there for the Radisson Pool Day Pass. Now, by Surinamese standards, this isn’t exactly "cheap," but it falls right into the average price category of other luxury hotels in Suriname like Torarica or Marriott.
The Deal: For $18 USD, you get a full day pass to use the swimming pool and your choice of a meal (like a juicy hamburger or nuggets). 🍔 There was some confusion at first about whether fries were included in the deal—but after some back-and-forth, they confirmed they are! 🍟🙌
The Culinary Highlights:
The Pool: Standing under the jet rays was pure therapy. Best way to relax in the city! 💦
The Juicy Salmon: Seriously, it was cooked to perfection. 🍽️
The Cheesecake: Okay, listen to me—this was easily the best cheesecake in Suriname I’ve had so far. It almost made me forget about the construction crew. Almost. 🍰🤤
Final Verdict ✨
The Radisson Hotel Paramaribo definitely has some growing pains to work through regarding guest privacy and staff training. However, if you want that average luxury experience with a killer meal, the $18 pass is a solid choice for a staycation in Suriname. Just a pro-tip: maybe peek into the bathroom before you walk all the way in! 🚪👀
