Deep-Tissue Massage From Han's Palace
Deep-Tissue Massage From Han Palace
Story Time: A Self-Care and Wellness Journey in Paramaribo
Hello friends, your favorite Surinamese pen pal is back with another Story Time episode! This time, we're going on a self-care and wellness journey right here in Paramaribo. After a long week of work, my body was crying out for a massage. So, I decided to spoil myself and headed over to Han Palace.
It seemed to be my lucky day! They were running a special deal: a 15% discount on any massage worth over $50 between 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
They also had a sweet perk for anyone getting a massage after 6:00 PM—you got to take home a lamp! The owner showed me pictures of other clients who'd picked one out, and he was kind enough to spoil me with one, too. I went home with one of the biggest lamps they had—it was almost as tall as me!
While I waited, I admired the traditional Chinese jewelry they sold, with pieces made from beautiful beads and authentic jade.
Soon enough, it was time for my massage. They offer you a drink beforehand, and you can choose from a variety of teas like Jasmin or a herbal blend. I picked a flower tea since I'd never had one before. My cup arrived, filled with colorful flowers. It looked as cool as it sounded!
After taking a few sips, the masseuse showed me how to lie down on the table. When she came back, her hands worked magic! She knew exactly where all the muscle knots and pressure points were. I was so impressed that she didn't need to apply a lot of pressure to make my back pop.
When it comes to healing my body, I never shy away from pressure, so I told her to go all out. The massage was so relaxing I almost fell asleep! When it was over, she gave me a few minutes to regain my senses before leaving that deep state of relaxation. They also do facials. We'll try that next time. 😉
I hope this story inspires you to make time for your own self-care and wellness activities. No matter how busy you are, remember to take care of your body, mind, and soul.
Tuning out for this episode and can't wait to share more adventures in tropical Suriname.
