Story Time: Foodie adventure at the last held fish market buffet in Flavors restaurant
Hello, my dearest Story Time friends from around the world, I'm excited to share this food adventure with you. This one took me a while to edit, but I am still happy to bring you along on my food adventures. If you haven't subscribed to my blog yet, you can jump onto the Story Time U.F.O. when you see it pop up on your screen by entering your email address. 😜 That was why I get to zap you along on all of my adventures. For today's Story Time edition, I am taking you along to Flavors restaurant in Paramaribo. This restaurant is located within the Courtyard by Marriott Suriname hotel. I actually wanted to attend their lobster dinner, but when I called, it was fully booked. They did have available places for the Fish Market. This buffet has been a returning event of Flavors restaurant for the last 8 years. We decided to do that instead since this would be our last chance to attend the Fish Market.
I have no regrets about visiting Marriott's Fish Market, it was certainly worth it!😍😍😋 When we got there, it was busy. I figured that it was crowded because this was going to be their last buffet with the Fish Market theme. The service was great, we checked in, and the staff was attentive to our needs. When they showed us our table, they offered to show us the buffet. I made a vlog about my food adventure at the Fish Market Buffet. Watch till the end to get a good view of all the yummy treats from different angles.😁😋😉
They had more than enough food at the Fish Market buffet. The only thing that made me feel sad that night was not having enough room to taste all the food. I didn't even get through all the tasty desserts that they had on their buffet. The waiter showed us everything that they had available on the menu for the night. I ordered a pina colada and warmed up for the first plate with high hopes. The good news in my foodie book is that I broke my own personal eating record. I gave myself a tap on the shoulder for that!😀🥫🥘😋🍲The food was so good that even a picky eater like me could find something at the buffet. But let's dig into all of this food. To start with, plate in my food review of this last Fish Market buffet event held in Flavors restaurant by Courtyard Marriott Paramaribo.😛😜On my first plate, I had some fried kibbling that was yummy. Especially when you top it off with some spicy sauce. I also took a salad with shrimp that was in an edible wrapper. I was surprised to find out that you can eat the wrapper. I also took some of the Tuna. I managed to get myself one of each of the available Sushi rolls.
In the picture above, the sushi roll platter is positioned next to the shrimp salad on the edible wrapper plate. The Courtyard by Marriott Paramaribo is well-known for its Sushi. They also have a sushi-to-go restaurant in their parking lot. There you can pick up your Sushi, just like you can pick up fast food.😆😅😂😄🍣🍣 The Sushi was incredible, and the Tuna Was Good, but cold. My tongue was a bit surprised to taste how cold it was. I guess that's how they keep the fish fresh. The highlight of my plate of appetizers was the Parmesan cheesecake. Too bad that I didn't have enough room in my belly to gobble down more of these.😖 I feel heartbroken because of that. I hope that the Courtyard by Marriott Paramaribo will bring back the Parmesan cheesecake during their other food events. Or they could just add it to the menu. The fresh salmon on top of the cheesy cheesecake was a symphony playing on my taste buds.😊😋🤤 On my second plate, I made the rookie mistake that you should never make at any buffet. 😪😫 I got tempted by the lasagna, the cheesy potato salad, and a big slice of black forest cake. 🎂🥮The cake ended up being too sweet for me! And I have a sweet tooth! The lasagna and the potato salad filled my stomach. I took a breather for a moment, and the delicious Marriott pina colada helped me wash all of it down.🧉🍹 I had never tried mussels before, but this time I was open to giving them a try. I had previously encountered them at a restaurant in Rotterdam. But back then, I wasn't that open to the seafood life. Now that I am 30, I might explore some new things in my life. I wanted to see what the hype was about. They basically taste like fish eggs, or what we call in Suriname' vissen kuit,' but only a bit creamier. The hot sauce on top of that gives it a great extra zing. Surinamese pepper sauce adds a great twist to these foreign dishes. In between, I sneaked myself the Creme Brulee. It was smooth, other, creamy, and delicious. I would certainly have more of that if I hadn't made my rookie mistake.😞
We waited for half an hour for the food to settle, and I needed to use their bathroom. The Courtyard by Marriott Paramaribo has clean toilets. I love all the big mirrors that they added to their bathroom. When I came back, it was time to explore the fish table. You could pick one item from their main fish menu. I picked out the Tuna steak, but they also had mixed fish Kebabs, white butterfish, black stripe snoek fillet, white yellow striped snapper fish, red snapper, and Kandra fish available. You could pick whichever fish you liked from the bar. I chose a small tuna steak because I knew I didn't have much space left in me. You can choose to have one sauce or all four sauces. I went crazy for you guys and took all 4 sauces.
Stew, who joined me on this food adventure, had the fish kebab and shared some with me. The fish Kebab was a grilled kebab consisting of four kinds of fish. It was delicious, and they did know how to grill the fish properly. Even my well-done Tuna steak was neatly grilled. When all of that good food went down, it was time to attack some of the desserts. That's where I caved, gasp. I should have started with the desserts.
The cake pop was so sweet that it sent my senses into a food coma overload. I did love the dawet mouse. Making a dessert inspired by the flavor of a popular Surinamese drink is simply genius! It was so yummy that I finished half of it. The almond pie was too sweet. That knocked me out, and I didn't get to taste the Oreo cheesecake. But Stew says it was well-balanced. I hope you guys love my video, and thank you for becoming a part of the Story Time tribe.💓😍😋I look forward to taking you along on many more adventures shortly.
