Episode 1: The Stand-In Bride

The numbers on my student loan portal were written in red. $150,000. To most, it’s a debt; to me, it was a prison sentence. So, when the wealthy Sterling family approached me with a "business proposal," I didn't look at the fine print. I just looked at the exit sign.

The deal was simple: I would be the stand-in for their daughter, Isabella. She was madly in love with a famous movie star and refused to marry the man her father had chosen for her—a business tycoon named Silas Vane. The Sterlings described him as a "cold, disfigured brute" and a "corporate monster."

"Just get through the wedding," they whispered, handing me a check that cleared my debts instantly. "He’s so private, he won't even notice the switch under the veil. After a few months, we’ll arrange a quiet divorce."

I believed them. Until I reached the altar.

The Revelation

As I walked down the aisle of the private cathedral, my heart hammered against my ribs. I expected a monster. I expected someone I would have to look away from. But when Silas Vane turned to face me, the breath left my lungs.

He wasn't a brute. He was breathtaking.

With sharp, aristocratic features, deep obsidian eyes, and a suit that cost more than my entire education, he looked like a dark god. The "coldness" the Sterlings had warned me about wasn't ugliness—it was a lethal, magnetic power. My hand trembled as he took it. His grip was firm, possessive, and terrifyingly warm.

When the priest spoke the words, "Till death do you part," I said them with a shaky voice, thinking of my freedom in six months. Silas, however, looked me directly in the eye. His voice was a low, melodic growl that sent shivers down my spine.

"Till death," he repeated. It didn't sound like a vow. It sounded like a threat.

The Locked Door

Later that night, in the sprawling penthouse that overlooked the city, the reality of my situation shattered. I was still in the heavy lace gown, my mind racing with ways to confess the truth before things went too far.

Silas entered the room, loosening his silk tie. The predatory grace in his movement made me back away until I hit the cold glass of the window.

"You seem nervous, Isabella," he said, using a name that wasn't mine. He stepped into my personal space, his shadow towering over me. "The Sterlings thought they were getting rid of a burden. They don't realize I’ve wanted this merger for a long time."

"Silas, I... I need to tell you something," I stammered, the guilt of the fake marriage choking me.

He leaned down, his lips brushing my ear. "Don't. Whatever lies you’re carrying, keep them. Because I meant what I said at the altar. I don't believe in divorce, and I don't believe in second chances. You are mine now. And it truly will be till death."

He walked away, locking the bedroom door with a definitive click.

I stood in the center of the room, frozen. I had traded my financial debt for a life sentence. If he ever found out I wasn't the woman he married, I knew the "death" part of our vow wouldn't be a natural one.
