A vibrant, cartoon-style illustration of a storybook. On the left, a young indigenous woman in ceremonial feathers holds a glowing blue snake over a chest containing a golden amulet. A river flows through a lush jungle toward a rising sun. On the right, dark figures in masks lurk in the shadows, while a friendly green alien in a "STORY TIME U.F.O." hovers above, beaming up passengers.

Episode 1: Finding the Golden Amulet

The sun hasn't quite crested the horizon yet, but Kaishi’s day has already begun. A young woman of the Ayaki village, she belongs to a peaceful tribe that has honored the same traditions for centuries. Her father is Chief Ramaki, the leader of three neighboring villages along the river.

Kaishi’s path was set long ago; her mother, the daughter of the Great Head Chief, passed away when Kaishi was just a girl. As the eldest child with royal blood in her veins, Kaishi is an exception to every rule. She is not just a chief's daughter; she is the trainee for the role of Medicine Woman and the future protector of the villages.

For the last six years, Kaishi has lived within the temple walls, tucked away from the common folk. Her crossover ceremony was the last time her grandfather, the ruler of all 250 river villages, visited this side of the water.

Our legends say the skies once opened and a warrior draped in celestial feathers descended from the clouds. He blessed the land with abundance and penned the Book of Tah, an ancient copy of which sits guarded in our temple. It teaches us our purpose: we are the healers of nature and the keepers of the river's secrets. But while most follow the old ways, whispers of conspiracy grow in the shadows—those who seek to overthrow the ancient reign.

As the "Queen of the Temple," my duty is to be the first to open my eyes. After a ritual milk bath and prayers for my people, I stand at the temple’s center. We track the first rays of the sun as they hit the stone floor; that light reveals knowledge known only to me, the holy virgins, the Chief, and the Elders.

The Hidden Chamber

Today, the sunbeam didn't hit the usual altar. Because of a slight shift in the season, the light struck a loose floorstone near the back of the temple—a spot usually draped in shadow.

Curiosity overrode my training. I knelt, prying the stone loose. Beneath it lay a small, lacquered box. Inside, resting on a bed of dried moss, was a Golden Amulet shaped like a coiled serpent with emerald eyes. It pulsed with a faint, warm rhythm, as if it had a heartbeat of its own.

"The Amulet of the First Healer," I whispered. This was the artifact mentioned in the lost chapters of the Book of Tah. They said it could cure any poison, but only if the wearer was brave enough to face the "Trial of the Fang."

The Strike

As I lifted the gold chain, a sudden rustle came from the rafters above. I didn't even have time to scream. A small, iridescent blue serpent—the Messenger of the Gods—dropped from the ceiling.

Its fangs sank deep into my hand.

The pain wasn't sharp; it was an explosion of heat that raced up my arm. My vision began to blur, the temple walls spinning like a kaleidoscope. According to the prophecy, a bite from the Messenger was a death sentence for the unworthy—but for the Protector, it was the only way to unlock the true power of the Golden Amulet.

As I collapsed to the cool stone floor, clutching the gold serpent to my chest, the shadows of the temple seemed to come alive. The "conspirators" weren't just a rumor anymore. I could hear their footsteps approaching the temple doors.

I was paralyzed, poisoned, and holding the most valuable treasure in the kingdom. The sun was fully up now, but for me, everything was fading into a golden glow.

Stay Tuned for Episode 2! 🌌

Will Kaishi survive the holy poison? And who is breaking into the temple at the crack of dawn? You’ll have to wait for the next episode of Story Time to find out!
