Storytime: Relaxation at Courtyard by Marriott in Paramaribo.
How have you been? I am back with a new Storytime for you. As you noticed I finally added my podcast to my blog. Feel free to scroll around on my website when you are finished reading this story. I figured I had a good start to the year as far as content creation goes, and I had learned from previous experiences how important it is to take care of yourself and unwind from time to time. After all, we are only humans that are living a short life, not machines! I contacted Courtyard Marriott in Paramaribo through their Facebook Page and inquired about the fees and procedures for pool usage. They don't take reservations, but they do give you a number to call on to check for availability. Due to Covid, most hotels accept a limited amount of pool guests during the day. The number that you can call on is 456000, once you call ask them to put you through with the pool to ask if they are accepting any more guests. When I called and received my confirmation I immediately packed my bags. It is recommended by the hotel to bring your own towel. I had to pay around $16,- for a pool pass, a meal of choice, and a drink. It seemed like a good deal for me.
So I didn't hesitate and purchased my pass. On the menu, you can choose between :
1. A complete Saoto ( A famous Surinamese soup of Javanese origin)
2. Chicken caesar salad
3. Chicken wings and fries
4. Fried chicken and fries
5. Chicken Hot dog
with your pool pass.
The staff is friendly and will immediately approach you. They will offer you a menu for when you are ready to order. The menu has some nice options. But keep in mind, that those items are not included in your pool pass. It wouldn't be a pool day for me if I didn't order at least one cocktail. For me, the Pina colada was an easy choice. Because I love Pina colada's and I have tasted a lot. It makes me nostalgic for moments at a beach with blue water. Our photographer for the day ordered the amaretto.
The fried chicken wings and fries were surprisingly good. I loved the BBQ sauce that you get along with the fries. As for the Saoto goes, it was more flavorful than the one I had at the Blauwgrond warung. But that's for another Story. I guess you do get what you pay for. I loved the hot sauce and the pepper that went with the saoto. It wasn't too spicy and the greens and fried potato bits add to the taste. A hot saoto soup is never complete without an egg. I did taste a little western twist in it and the lack of meat isn't in tune with my Javanese roots. But overall the food does serve its value when it comes to taste.
After we filled our Stomachs, we went swimming and explored the Courtyard.
I fell in love with the beautifully decorated Cabanas at the Courtyard Marriot in Paramaribo. It's the perfect spot to relax and stretch out your legs with your friends or a partner as you enjoy the beautiful view of the Suriname River.
The lights during the night create romantic vibes at Courtyard Marriott in Paramaribo. By the time I had to say goodbye, I felt relaxed and rejuvenated. It is true when they say time goes by fast when you are having fun. Here is a video of my day at the pool in Courtyard Marriott. I hope you enjoy it. Until the next time right here on Storytime! I can't wait to see where my next adventure takes us.
