Birthday Celebration In Grun Djari

Birthday Celebration In Grun Djari Sending out this transmission to land in front of the eyes of my dearest Story Time friends. πŸ“» I am glad to be back with another episode of my life. πŸ˜‚ Don't worry, I make sure to spare you all the traumatizing ones on my blog.πŸ˜›The last thing I want is some extra dosages of Horror. Halloween has already passed.πŸ˜‚ So it might be too late for that. Last week we had a busy weekend. Between everything on our to-do list, we also wanted to head to Grund Djari for a birthday celebration. We were invited to celebrate the 65th Birthday of the chairman of the National Party Suriname. I don't always talk politics on my blog, but I enjoy sharing parts of my life. Remember that I never try to force my political beliefs on anyone. I only share some of the moments of my journey.  We decided to surprise Dr. Rusland with a bouquet. Early in the morning, we headed to the Van Roseveltkade staat. There are many flower shops, hotels, and popular restaurants l

Storytime: Visiting Owos resort in Suriname

Hello Storytime readers, as you know I always love adventures. Even though I haven't posted all of them yet.  Sometimes I have good adventures, sometimes I have bad adventures. Sometimes I have happy ones and sometimes I have sad ones.  Either way, the adrenaline of exploration is a definite reminder that I am living life. That is really all I am trying to do. I am trying to live my life in the best way possible.  The hunger I am trying to satisfy is after all within.  This time I went on a short adventure that isn't too far from the city, Lelydorp, or the airport. If you don't know what to do when you are in Suriname, just hit the subscribe button and jump into the storytime spaceship as we head out and explore the rest of the world.  For me, it's certainly an opportunity to share my adventures through writing. Trust me you are only getting into a small part of it.  But that is for you to find out as time passes by.  Today we are talking about Owos resort.

Are you looking forward to having a relaxing time in the middle of nature? The good news is when you are in Suriname there are many options. Especially when a large percentage of the country is still green. You can notice that on most of your road trips through the country.  Owos is a dutch acronym that translates to Meeting, wandering, relaxing, and being together.  Owos is located near Powaka.

It's about a 40-minute drive from Lelydorp. They are open from Monday to Sunday from 9 am until 18 pm. But if you want to be really sure you can place your reservations through WhatsApp. The number is 5988504858.  The only thing you need to get this adventure started is a full tank of gas, some food, your swimming suit, a hammock, and any cooking equipment that you plan to use during your stay.  You can expect to pay around SRD40,- for the entrance fee per adult. That's under $2,- with the current exchange rate.  For children between 2 1/2 years and 12 years old, you will pay SRD20,-. That is converted into Dollars a little bit below $1,- For car parking you will pay about 10 Surinamese Dollars, that's a little under $0,50.

If you are traveling with a group of people by bus the bus will have to pay an SRD20,- parking fee. That converts to under $1,- as well. If you want to rent a hut during your stay there are four options for you to choose from. For a standard small hut, you will pay SRD100-.  That's less than $5,-.  For a bigger hut you can expect to pay between SRD200,- and SRD400,- depending on the size.  That's between $9 and $17,- that you can expect to pay for the bigger huts.
When you visit Owos, your main expectation should be to enjoy nature. Don't expect too much luxury, after all, you are going to a creek for a swim. Or you could end up having a day like I had. I showed up dressed in my swimming suit but I didn't take a dive. Instead, I was just hanging around. I did love the scenery, it was perfect for taking pictures. When we arrived we mostly had the place all to ourselves. I have to be honest and say that I didn't actually enjoy my short stay. But that had nothing to do with the place. We all have those moments, the important thing is I picked myself through it.  And I must admit that I found the necessary peace there that helped me connect to my inner feelings. You guys know how important introspection is for me. That helps me unblock any emotions or thoughts that could hinder my personal development as an individual. I do want to thank the people who tried their best to make this trip special for me. I do appreciate you guys.  It's just that not every day can be a sunny day. I feel like I need to be more open about moments like this.  Especially on my blog, because I think it's important for people to know that everyone faces their own battles no matter how bright their circumstances seem.  We are all just a part of nature and must subside to the same laws. But I do think that relaxation and spending time in nature are good for your mind, body, and soul.  Especially for people who live high-pressure lives. Slow down from time to time and reconnect to the things that truly matter. Keep reminding yourself of who you are and what you are doing it all for so you don't get lost in the loud noise of daily tasks. Exploring more places and spending more time in nature has definitely become a part of my new self-care routine.  So if you happen to be in Suriname South America and you want to spend time in nature without traveling too far from the big cities Owos resort is certainly an option on the list.  For the local readers,  I would like to say Life is short, go out and explore your country! A lot of people who live in Suriname still haven't seen a lot of places here.  But that's alright, I am taking you along with me right here on Storytime. Check out the video inserted somewhere under this text if you want to have a better picture of what the place looks like.   But for now, friends as I head into a new phase of my life I will keep going on adventures and hopefully, I can take you all along. Can't wait for you to join me on the next adventure right here on Storytime.
