Where to find the best deep fried doughnut balls in Suriname

Where to find the best deep-fried doughnut balls in Suriname?

Hello Storytime readers, from around the world. Today I decided to take a mini food hunting tour through Suriname. On my search for delicious food, I found this small spot located on the corner of the Kasabaholo weg and the Priscilla street in Paramaribo. The cute little "olie bollen kraam" ( Donuts stall) as we call it in dutch is hard to miss.   The people who run the stall will welcome you with a friendly smile.  The donut stall has been in this location for at least 5 years now.  When you are driving alongside the road it immediately catches your eyesight and triggers curiosity. Because there aren't a lot of places in this country that offer this famous dutch treat. Despite the fact that we were a dutch colony until Suriname gained independence in 1975,  you don't really see as many waffles, pancakes, and olie bollen stalls here as you do in the Netherlands.

Somehow seeing this olie bollen stall made me nostalgic. I remembered the ones I used to buy during my visit to Holland.  So I decided to try out the experience and share it with you guys. I ordered a couple of things from their menu. You will notice that they have received certificates of appreciation for their deliciously filled doughnuts.
They make their deep-fried doughnut balls with raisins and pineapples in the filling as well. Have a look at some of the delicious snacks I tried from this lovely local olie bollen stall in Suriname.

This one is my favorite out of all that I have tried. Be sure to taste it, especially if you like a creamy pudding flavor in these soft and fluffy doughnuts.

" Dutch Mini pancakes in Suriname"

Yum Yum, I have no complaints here. Especially when it's warm and fluffy. The butter melts perfectly with that Nutella and powdered sugar on top of it. I like how the pancakes aren't too sweet, so it keeps the taste balanced.

Look at that powdered sugar on top of it, makes me  think of Christmas
These used to be a holiday treat during my childhood, but until now olie bollen are mostly seen as a Christmas treat. But thank goodness this place serves them all year round. The dough has a creamy taste and the pineapple and raisins blend well with the dough. But why don't you try it yourself if you are ever in Suriname, and let me know?

But I have to admit, that wasn't my only sweet sin for the day. I really wanted to try out the Pizza hut Shoarma pizza as well. Unfortunately, they were sold out of those, so we picked a bbq pizza instead. Man, I need to work out on more adventures after this food splurging episode. I really love cheesy bites in my pizza. The tiny bite-size pockets that are filled with cheese rip apart easily from each slice. The only thing missing was just the right dip. By the time I noticed I forgot that I had already gotten home.
