A Foodie Adventure At Taman Indah Resort
Hello my friends, today our Story Time U.F.O. 🛸is taking you for a rough landing in the district of Commewijne. We found ourselves in Tamanredjo again. This place is popular for the amount Javanese warungs that you can find there. Most of our Neighbors that cross to Suriname from French Guyana stop here for a snack before making their way to the capital, Paramaribo. Among one of the popular restaurants in this area there is Taman Indah Resort. They are famous for their Berkat and their swimming pool. If you want to know what a Berkat is, make sure to subscribe to my Story Time blog. I'll be publishing more stories about food from the different cultures in Suriname for you guys!😁😀 We went to Tamanredjo at night time with hungry stomachs. Some people visit this resort to go swimming as well. You can buy a day pass and there are also cabana's and apartment's for rent.
The resort isn't located on the main road, but you'll know that you arrived when you see the waving Surinamese flags on the side of the road. The place has a lot of decorations going on. I did like the colorful lighting that they added for the atmosphere and the water fountains. They went with an Indonesian theme for the resort. It's design has a lot of Bali vibes. Which isn't something strange in this South American country. Suriname was the only Caribbean and South American country to have Javanese Immigrants from Indonesia during the colonial period. Our ancestors came here in the hopes of building a better future. The result is that in a tropical country, you find many of their descendants who kept the Indonesian traditions, values, and culture that their ancestors brought to Suriname. I took a walk around the resort to check out what the hype was all about, and I have to admit it does have peaceful vibes. The garden is beautiful and it didn't take long to get familiar with our surroundings. We were still hungry and ordered our food. My friends and I decided to order a plate of chicken sate ayam to share. I also ordered a strawberry milkshake that they named Strawberry Dulce on their menu. The pink drink had caramel, milk, syrup, and strawberry ice cream in it. For my main course, I ordered the saoto soup! You can't go wrong with this Javanese soup. It's an absolute must-try when visiting Suriname. Are you planning on going on your own foodie vacation soon? Check out Expedia for awesome deals! My friends who joined me on this foodie adventure ordered the Long Tong Tahoe and the Wonton soup. We waited for a while to receive our food. When our order finally reached our table Devlin thought that his Wonton soup bowl was a small portion, and he was right if I had to compare it to the size of my saoto soup bowl. The chicken sate ayam was nice, but it wasn't the best I had either. It scored an average on our plate, but it did hit the right taste buds for me with that ketjap ( black soy sauce) sambal. I liked my saoto soup that came with the egg and had no problems slurping it up in no time! As it has become the new trend here on Story Time I've made a vlog of this foodie adventure in the district Commewijne for you guys. Making these videos certainly helps bring more life to the stories on my blog! I'm having a lot of fun sharing life in Suriname with you guys. That's why I appreciate all the support that helps my Story Time blog grow and evolve into what it is. I hope you guys enjoy the video and I look forward to sharing more episodes with you guys as we travel through the Surinamese kitchen.
