You know I can never resist an invitation when good food is involved! 🍽️ Recently, I was invited to a traditional Surinamese birthday party at Lolokukru in Paramaribo. I had never actually been to the venue before, but I’d heard nothing but great things about the atmosphere—and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. 🌴✨
Inspiration Strikes: The Pond & The Aquarium 🐟💧
The moment you step inside Lolokukru, you realize you've walked into a hidden tropical oasis. Apart from their massive, lush Surinamese tropical garden and separate indoor hall, the first thing that caught my eye was a beautiful, serene pond.
New Life Goal: I am officially obsessed. Now I want a pond of my own! 🌊
The Plan: I am 100% going to try to convince the boys to build one for me. Wish me luck! After all, being part of a construction start-up should have benefits.😅🏗️🛠️

The party featured a massive Surinamese buffet loaded with all the popular local dishes we know and love. Now, don't ask me if the food was catered directly by Lolokukru or brought in by the hosts—all I know is that I was invited to eat, and it was absolutely delicious! 😋

When it was time to sing the birthday songs, things took a uniquely Surinamese, completely unforgettable turn. The vocals and the energy were brought to life by the people from Harmonie Uitvaart.
Yes, you read that right! Harmonie Uitvaart is a well-known company in Suriname that usually performs beautifully at funerals, but their incredible vocals completely transformed the birthday atmosphere, bringing so much life, rhythm, and soul to the celebration. Only in Suriname! 🙌🇸🇷
