The Silent Weight: When the Heart Hurts More Than the Body

The Silent Weight: When the Heart Hurts More Than the Body   "The pain of the heart is stronger than the pain of the body." We live in a world that is obsessed with physical healing. We have gyms for our muscles, medicine for our fevers, and bandages for our scrapes. But what do we do when the injury is invisible? As an entrepreneur and someone who spends a lot of time roaming the quiet corners of Suriname, I’ve realized that you can walk ten miles through the bush and feel less exhausted than you do after one hour of heartbreak or betrayal. The body heals with time, but the heart? The heart requires a different kind of bravery. The Invisible Ache A broken bone is a solid thing, A heavy cast, a winter’s sting. The blood will clot, the skin will mend, A physical break we can comprehend. But the heart is a chamber of liquid fire, A tangled web of old desire. When it bruises, there is no purple stain, Just a hollow echo, a silent rain. You can run from the cold, you can hide f...

Exploring the beauty of Suriname's tropical rainforest

Exploring the beauty of Suriname's tropical rainforest

" Tree in the Suriname river pass Atjoni, view of the amazon rainforest in Suriname"

Yes, here I am again blogging about the beauty of nature! 🌳🌴Each part of the world 🌎has something that makes it unique in its own way. Looking at this picture that I took with my Nikon D3100, I must say that in Suriname, it is our tropical rainforest that makes us special. We are known as the beating heart of the Amazon rainforest for a reason! 💓 I love exploring my country and discovering the hidden gems that nature has to offer. Many Surinamese people have never seen these parts of the country. But I can't blame them! Suriname is so big that I haven't even seen all the places. What I can say is that exploring the unique beauty of Suriname's tropical rainforest is worth it!  Outside of Paramaribo, you can discover the untouched beauty of our natural surroundings. Just taking in these moments reminds me how beautiful our planet is. We live in a world worth saving!

Life in the tropical rainforest of Suriname isn't easy for its inhabitants. Most of these villages don't have access to electricity. Some villages have generators that are fueled with oil. Those generators only get turned on at night. Having your own electric system is a luxury in these parts. Though some resorts do provide that luxury. However, while walking among the locals and observing their lifestyle, I noticed that the luxury of electricity isn't easily accessible to them. That breaks my heart compared to the rest of the country. If I go to Nickerie, I know I won't have that same hassle. In some areas, getting a signal can be stressful. You have no idea how many important Zoom meetings I missed because of this. 😤But I don't regret my visits. Being in our nature brings me peace. If you plan to travel to Suriname, go explore our rainforest and disconnect from the modern world for a while. In the peace and quiet of nature, you might find out things about yourself.

From the butterflies flying over the Suriname River to the unique tropical birds. The pretty flowers you'll see in the villages and the unique trees in our Amazon jungle are the things that make it easy to fall in love with Suriname. Of course, our excellent food and diverse menu options add to that list. Don't be surprised if you see different people in this Dutch-speaking South American country. Our multi-ethnic society blends well. There are other parts of our rainforest to explore. And I'm planning on taking you along for the adventure! So, make sure to subscribe to my blog when you see the Story Time U.F.O. pop up on your screen. As I welcome you to journey through Suriname with me, I hope you enjoy this video that I made of my visit to the village of Jaw Jaw. There are also some pictures in it that I made of the rainforest and the places we visited. To reach Jaw Jaw, you will have to take the boat to Atjonie. Thank goodness it's not such a long boat trip. You could easily travel from Paramaribo to Jaw Jaw and back in one day. I would like to see those videos and pictures from the past. I told you, I have some Story Time adventures coming up! Until next time, and can't wait to see you again.✍✊
