Story Time: Snack Time at Rock Oil in Paramaribo
Hi guys, I know I look tired in this picture. However, I don't care, as I often mention, the purpose of my blog isn't to create an illusion of perfection. Instead of this Story Time U.F.O., we are on a healing journey as we try to enjoy life and explore the world around us. Why do I enjoy writing about self-love adventures so much? Speaking of the Story Time U.F.O.👽👾🛸, I'm tired right now while typing this up for you after some intense days of work. Gasp, but hey, a Queen does a lot! In my personal life, my crown just rocks that way.👑 , So hopping on that Story Time U.F.O. is appreciated. By subscribing, you become a part of my Story Time community.
Let the records show that you can't achieve anything in life without first putting in the hard work. It's passion and vision that keep us motivated, and self-love helps you discover what yours is. Be sure to also check out the self-love articles on my blog. ✍ I write about the things in life that I learned to help me on my own healing journey, in the hope that you may find some of that healing too.🪔 Okay, I'll tell my inner monk to chill it for a while. Because this isn't a self-love episode, it's a foodie adventure!😋🍲🥘🥫
And in this foodie episode, we are going on a snack adventure to Rock Oil in Paramaribo! If you travel to Surinam, you'll find out that there are a couple of service stations here that also serve as hotspots. One of them is Rock Oil Suriname. This service station is a popular stop at night. Rock Oil has a nice selection of desserts, and they also offer food for sale. I'll take you on a couple of adventures where we will go to try their food. In this Story Time video, I visited them on Jul 1. A popular national holiday in Suriname. On Jul 1, the abolition of slavery is celebrated in Suriname. On Jul 1, 1863, the slaves working on Surinamese plantations were informed that they were free. Of course, there were certain conditions, because why wouldn't the slave master who owned several plantations not be a shrewd businessman? The slaves had to work for 10 years under contract on a plantation for low wages before they were actually free to go. After that, our ex-Dutch colonizer brought Immigrants to Suriname to maintain their plantations. Even that story has some cruelty and blood in it. Due to our rich resources, my country has several dark pages in its history and has become a social experiment. It doesn't sound too pleasant, but either way, today we are here as the independent Republic of Suriname. That's why, on this day, Rock Oil decided to go all out with the Keti Koti theme (Keti Koti means 'chains are broken' in Sranang Tongo). This video is from a while back, but don't say that I didn't warn you guys that I have a lot of adventures to share as we get to know each other! I ordered the passion fruit cheesecake. I love passion fruit cheesecake and the Hershey chocolate ice slushie. They were both good.
The passion fruit cheesecake had a thick layer, and the cheesecake was nice and creamy! I hope you guys love the video and stay tuned for more Rock Oil food adventures! I'll be back soon. In the meantime, check out my Merchandise shop, and feel free to explore my blog.
