Beni's Christmas Palace In Suriname Just like in the photo above this text, I am okay but I am not completely okay. I feel awful on the inside and for a long time it was difficult to find the motivation to return to blogging. Tomorrow's Christmas, so I mustered all of my strength to at least finish another episode. I've been gone for a while because as usual, life got hectic. But this time in a bad way! As you guys know a while ago I started a company in Suriname. Most of my days were spent creating Story Time episodes, working, doing social work or going along to get a taste of the field. When we go to clients, sometimes I get to see awesome places. Or in between on our journeys we tend to make pitstops. This Story Time episode is supposed to be about my visit to Beni's Christmas palace. But let me tell you about what happened after that first. Just so you can understand how my Christmas spirit, transformed in the energy of mourning. People see the good, but I'l...
Story Time: Visiting Braamspunt and dolphin spotting during turtle egg laying season
Hello, my dearest Story Time readers from around the world. How have you been? I am doing great, as usual, I get to go on adventures in this beautiful tropical South American/ Caribbean country called Suriname. I am still behind in sharing my adventures with you guys. But that is because I have been experiencing some technical difficulties with my equipment since my last adventure through the South American rainforest. I love exploring this fantastic country that is exactly in the middle of the three Guyanas. But soon I will be sharing more of my travel adventures with you. So make sure that you take this opportunity to jump onto the Story Time U.F.O. and join me on my adventures. At the same time, we are learning about self-love while I get to explore and share my creativity with you on my blog and other channels. These are one of the many opportunities in my life that I am grateful for. Especially how I am beginning to grow comfortable with showing more of myself and who I am to the rest of the world. I keep saying life is short, you never know when your last day might be. That is why I consciously chose to seize today and exercise my expressive skills. I have grown from that little girl that her country got to watch grow up into the strong unique individual that I am today. An individual that is heavy on those Queen vibes. The world and this reality are my inspiration while I live this human life, so I might as well explore each experience that I get offered in front of me. I use those moments to create beautiful memories. Those memories fuel my inspiration and feed my blog to come alive. I want to thank each and every one of you for supporting me and my blog ( content) on this Story Time journey that I have been going through. It's a great adventure that I will continue to share with you. I really love being able to document my experience and just put it out there in the world, for whomever to find and read. We might not even know each other, we might be in different parts of the world. But my soul recognizes yours, embraces it, and welcomes yours to see the world from my perspective. In today's Story Time edition we are going on a travel adventure. The Story Time U.F.O. is zapping you all the way to Braamspunt beach in Suriname South America. I have written articles about this beautiful sand beach in Suriname before. But this time things were a little bit different. I visited during the turtle egg hatching season with my little cousins. I wanted them to see a part of the country that they will be learning about in geography classes in a couple of years. If it still exists by that time, because of global warming you never know. They certainly had fun enjoying the view with me, especially since they are so full of energy. We went to Braamspunt from Nieuw Amsterdam in the district Commewijne by boat. We did arrive a bit late since we experienced some bad luck on the road. That's why the boat could not take us all the way to the big tent we were staying in. We had to walk for a bit and carry our belongings with us. The tide was too low for the boatman to even come close to the camping spot. I love the fact that it's so cool under this tent, despite the fact that it can get really hot on the beach. The wind blows right through it and cools us off. If you plan to visit Braamspunt beach in Suriname don't forget to bring your hammock. It will be well worth it. We heard that there were some fishermen living at the end of the beach. We weren't allowed to cross the beach towards the seaside because it was turtle egg-laying season. The sea turtle eggs are protected in Suriname and they are very strict with that policy. From mid-January until the end of June sea turtles look up beaches in Suriname like Braamspunt and Apoera to start laying their eggs. Understandably, these beautiful animals of the sea, deserve to be protected. In Suriname, the eggs are sometimes illegally collected and sold for consumption. Some people cook them, as it is a popular local delicacy. But not for me, because I don't eat turtles or turtle eggs. There are a lot of things I don't eat. I like to call myself a chickenterian. Despite that turtle eggs, are targeted by humans with a specific taste pallet. Being warned by the local authorities not to approach the seaside we didn't go near it. Although from the side of the beach that is more towards the river you could see the ocean from certain parts. We headed on our adventure to find the fishermen living at the end of the beach because we wanted to purchase some fish. So our long journey began, I got it on film for you guys, and I hope you enjoyed it. The only thing is by the time we arrived at the end of the beach it wasn't only a dead end but the men there told us that the person responsible for selling the fish was all the way at the beginning of the beach where we had walked from. Gasp, the good thing is the exercise did me good. I really got to burn those calories. At the tent, you have the possibility to cook on location. That makes it easier for a day of relaxation. Just sit back, relax and look around you what wonders this world has in store. Keep the beach clean during your travels and don't harm the wildlife, flora, fauna, or eco balance around you. Learn to respect nature while you enjoy it and you will be surprised at how rewarding that can be. When it was time to leave, we could not leave without spotting dolphins first. The river was very busy because on this day a lot of tourists also came for dolphin spotting. It's a good thing there were a lot of dolphins around for all of us to enjoy. They aren't shy at all and they seem to enjoy the attention. Even though they are in their natural habitat in nature they still managed to put on a show for us. I could clearly observe why dolphins are often referred to as intelligent. The kids had the time of their lives to be able to experience dolphins right here in Suriname. They thought that it was something they could only experience at Sea World like they see on T.V. and on Social Media. While all this time you could observe dolphins in their natural habitat right here in Commewijne. These river dolphins are something else. I can't wait to share my next Story Time adventure with you. I have so much more of my adventures to show you. So don't forget to hop onto the Story Time U.F.O. and feel free to share my posts with your loved ones to show support for my writing. Until next time right here on Story Time.
