Story Time: Dinner at Ramada rooftop hotel in Paramaribo Suriname
Hello my dearest Story Time readers from around the world, how have you been? I am on those feel-good vibes and excited to finally share this story with you guys. It took me a while, but as you know the Queen has been one busy bee on these adventures. It's a good thing on the other hand because that means I get to share a lot of stories with you. Today's story is one that I know you travel and food enthusiast will enjoy. In this Story Time edition, we are exploring the Ramada rooftop. I decided to have my lunch at the rooftop of the Ramada hotel located in the heart of Paramaribo. It's right next to The Garden and across the street from Tangelo. I have been meaning to try this place out for a while. I have heard many good things about the Ramada food and view. So I was excited to try it out at an unexpected moment. I was actually craving some pancakes or chocolate brownies from het pannekoek poffertjes cafe in Paramaribo. Little did I know that the roads would be closed due to Premier Rutte of the Netherlands visiting Suriname. So instead I ended up in Ramada through their back entrance. I took the lift up to the 4th floor and I have to tell you that the view is worth it. Mind you a Queen had a busy day and she was just looking for food. Besides, I swing from place to place in this country. One moment I can be in the middle of the Amazon jungle and a couple of hours later you can find me in the middle of the city of Paramaribo. It is what it is when it comes to my life. I am just a girl with curious energy trying to make the best of each moment. My heart wishes to make the most of each moment before I become too old to even enjoy adventures or even worse. After all, you can never know what tomorrow brings.
Just being at Ramada rooftop gives you a relaxing vibe. The view is breathtaking and their gorgeous pool is definitely on my swimming list. When I visit them the next time I'll jump into the pool and share that experience with you on my Story Time Channels. After admiring the view for a while the friendly staff approached us. We got to see the menu and ordered quite a couple of items from it.
Compared to other high-end restaurants in Suriname the prices at the Rooftop by Ramada Paramaribo Princess are reasonable. Of course, I could not resist and had to order a Pina Colada as usual. Future me is going to write to you on this blog at 50 years old still drinking those Pina Coladas. We also decided to get the Tomato mozzarella with pesto sauce, the chicken burger, Alfredo chicken, and shrimp pasta and for dessert, I had my eyes on that triple chocolate layer cake.
For me, the Pina Colada tasted refreshing. It had the right balance between coconut and pineapple in it. Give it a shot for yourself if you are a Pina Colada lover like I am. This Pina Colada had me craving for seconds in no time. While waiting for my food we noticed that the Premiere of the Netherlands Mark Rutte arrived at the hotel Torarica right across the street. We had an amusing view of all the journalists running toward the dutch delegation. Especially the one that was running late. It is interesting to observe human life and the society around me from a different perspective.
We were curious about the Tomato mozzarella with pesto sauce. In this case, our curiosity paid off. It was refreshing and tasted healthy. I loved the mozzarella cheese and the walnuts that they added to the salad. Walnuts are very good for your brain and a mind like mine appreciates that brain food. This dish is different from what we are used to in Surinamese cuisine but it is certainly worth a try.
On a scale from 1 to 10 the Chicken burger scores a 7. We loved how crunchy the fries were. The patty was juicy and had a special sauce to add to its rich flavor. The portion size is good and fills your stomach. I compared portion sizes to the Surinamese standard of portion sizes.
I loved all the cheese in my pasta, although they could have added more shrimp if it was up to me. Even if that meant that I would have to pay extra. This Queen doesn't play around when it comes to shrimp. They do give you enough pasta to fill up your stomach. I couldn't finish my entire plate in one hit. Maybe the Mozarella cheese with tomato pesto sauce was partly to blame for that.
I like to consider myself a chocolateholic, in Suriname my people often spoil me with chocolate. So of course I had to get the triple chocolate layer cake. It was either that or the cheesecake. But on this day I was in a big chocolate lovers mood. I have to say I loved the presentation. Simple but elegant. I also loved the different kinds of chocolate you could taste in it. Some parts tasted like Belgian chocolate, some parts tasted like milk chocolate and other parts tasted like dark chocolate. It wasn't overwhelmingly sweet and I could definitely go for a second slice while I am writing this story for you. I made you guys a video of my visit to the Rooftop of Ramada Princess hotel & casino in Paramaribo. I hope you guys enjoy it and until next time right here on Story Time.
