13 Balloons

13 balloons  I had a bouquet made of 13 balloons. I got them because I wanted to make you feel how you made me feel when we shared our first honeymoon. I tried to hold onto them, like how you held onto me when I needed someone to be there. When I went out to fill them with air, I kept thinking about how I had found the spark that we would come to share. When I am with you, I feel like I have no care.  I could reach for the sky, and you would still hold onto a part of me. I believed that our love had to come from mastery. How else could your eyes keep me in captivity without undressing me? Your mind sparked a fire within my soul that I could not douse. In front of you, I felt as shy as a mouse. In my mind, I’d build an imaginary house.  As my thoughts carried me away, I’d dream of a future that maybe wouldn’t last. They say that when ...

Hakrinbank's Car Expo At The Hermitage Mall

Hakrinbank's Car Expo At The Hermitage Mall

" The Tesla Model Y during Hakrinbank's Car Expo on the parking lot of the Hermitage Mall"

Dear friends, I've returned to share another Story Time adventure. It was a hot day in Paramaribo, and we were driving by the Hermitage Mall when we noticed an event in the parking lot. Despite not being dressed for the occasion, we decided to stop. The flags of Hakrinbank, a popular local bank, could be spotted from miles away. We entered the Hermitage Mall's parking lot and saw multiple new cars. It turns out that the bank was hosting a car expo. Different car dealers were present and displaying the latest models they had available. The bank was promoting its loans for car purchases. Loud music was playing around us and the people present were having fun. If you were interested in a model, they'd even let you take it for a test drive.  The Tesla Model Y caught my interest. Electric cars are new to Suriname, so you don't encounter many on the streets. Tesla's Model Y is for sale for $58500,-. I've been in Hybrid cars before but this was the first time I saw a Tesla up close. The design is nice but I think the price is too high. I'm all for renewable energy and minimizing the use of fossil fuels for our planet. But Suriname's infrastructure and lack of electric charging stations on the road indicate that we aren't ready to implement this new technology. With all the potholes on our streets, I couldn't help but wonder if the Model Y could endure our South American terrain. I do believe that it's a good thing to introduce this kind of technology to our local market. I am just shocked that they allowed Tesla's electrical cars to be sold before Starlink. I've been waiting many years for our Telecommunications Authorities to approve Starlink in my country.  I guess not all forms of progress are easily welcomed. The arrival of Starlink would be a slap in the face to Telesur. The internet provider is largely owned by the government. Many people have said that they'd happily make the switch. Just because our local internet provider has difficulties delivering good quality. Most of the time you don't even get the MB's you pay for.  I've been informed that they already have electric charging roads in other countries. You can charge your car while driving! But it would take many years and progressive politicians before Suriname gets to that level. Our governments are more focused on digging up raw oil offshore and collecting government take ( A tax added to the oil price. Surinamese people pay the tax per liter purchased.). Despite these challenges, it's still great to dream about what could be. Maybe one day the future generations that will lead can open many doors of change and innovation for my country. Let me know what you think in the comment section. I made a vlog of my visit to Hakrinbank's Car Expo. Speaking of cars! Do you need to rent a car for your upcoming travels?
