13 Balloons

13 balloons  I had a bouquet made of 13 balloons. I got them because I wanted to make you feel how you made me feel when we shared our first honeymoon. I tried to hold onto them, like how you held onto me when I needed someone to be there. When I went out to fill them with air, I kept thinking about how I had found the spark that we would come to share. When I am with you, I feel like I have no care.  I could reach for the sky, and you would still hold onto a part of me. I believed that our love had to come from mastery. How else could your eyes keep me in captivity without undressing me? Your mind sparked a fire within my soul that I could not douse. In front of you, I felt as shy as a mouse. In my mind, I’d build an imaginary house.  As my thoughts carried me away, I’d dream of a future that maybe wouldn’t last. They say that when ...

" Young woman shopping for Chinese yoghurt drinks and milk tea's"

Hello friends, welcome back to another Story Time adventure in tropical Suriname. After having our belongings stolen, I am slowly picking up blogging again.  The entire incident took my focus and motivation away from being creative especially because I lost a lot of content on my Samsung Ultra S23.  Since then, it's been a long journey trying to recover the damage our company suffered. I'll make a separate blog post about that in my upcoming blogger notes.  Someone I learned a lot from would say " It's all in the game of life.".  The experience helped me gain wisdom and insight. I've learned that not all people are guided by the same morals. That's a harsh piece of reality to swallow for an idealist. But I also like to think that sometimes we experience bad moments to appreciate the good things in life. I've become more grateful for having awesome friends in my life. Their help and support was a strong foundation during the tough times.  I've never been a quitter. There have been moments where I hide from the spotlight. But my soul isn't one to be scared off by these bumps on the road of life.  Sometimes you just have to stand up, dust yourself off, and keep moving forward. The scars might linger and hurt, but I've learned to use pain as fuel. We officially re-opened our doors and plan on moving our business location soon.  I've documented parts of this journey to add to my blog. While searching for parts to buy for our clients we passed Gao Ming. That's when we suddenly had the idea to stop and look for my favorite Chinese Milk Tean and Yoghurt. Don't ask me what it's called because my Mandarin hasn't passed the basics of Duolingo yet. We looked through the store and found a wide range of Chinese products available for sale. Most of them are ingredients used for cooking. They also had dumplings and sewmai. I plan on trying those the next time. I've been to Gao Ming before. My dad often brought us there to buy Chinese candy when I was a kid. But this was the first time I visited their store in Paramaribo Noord. In the fridge, I was lucky enough to find the addictive beverages I was looking for. They even had them in more flavors than I usually come across in the stores. Not all stores sell these beverages, so I was eager to try the new flavors. The milk tea I took this time had a yummy peachy flavor. Just writing this article, makes me crave more! Instead of the banana yogurt I tasted before, I decided to get the vanilla ice cream yogurt. I was not disappointed with my choice! I loved the blend of the yogurt flavor with a hint of sweet vanilla ice cream. If you're traveling through Paramaribo Noord, I'd recommend visiting Gao Ming. Try out their beverages and you might be surprised. They also sell local and foreign fruits. I even spotted Kimchi on the racks. I made a video of our visit to Gao Ming. Peek into this Chinese Surinamese store with me and let me know what you think in the comments. Are you planning your own shopping adventures abroad?
