Beni's Christmas Palace In Suriname

Beni's Christmas Palace In Suriname Just like in the photo above this text, I am okay but I am not completely okay. I feel awful on the inside and for a long time it was difficult to find the motivation to return to blogging.  Tomorrow's Christmas, so I mustered all of my strength to at least finish another episode. I've been gone for a while because as usual, life got hectic. But this time in a bad way! As you guys know a while ago I started a company in Suriname. Most of my days were spent creating Story Time episodes, working, doing social work or going along to get a taste of the field.  When we go to clients, sometimes I get to see awesome places. Or in between on our journeys we tend to make pitstops. This Story Time episode is supposed to be about my visit to Beni's Christmas palace. But let me tell you about what happened after that first. Just so you can understand how my Christmas spirit, transformed in the energy of mourning. People see the good, but I'l...

5 reasons to visit the circus.

5 Reasons to visit the circus

The circus has been in town for a while. When I heard the Suarez brothers circus was in town it brought back fun childhood memories. My parents brought me to the circus when they were last here, which was about 12 years ago. As a child, it was quite an experience. I decided to purchase a ticket for SRD 85,- which is almost $10,- and off to the circus, we went. It is after all December. Is anyone else feeling the Christmas spirit as much as I am? As a matter of fact, I am having so much fun playing Mrs. Claus. But that is something I certainly plan on writing about soon.

I couldn't resist taking a picture with a Christmas tree at the entrance of the circus.

The tickets were kind of pricey for me, but that could be my inner cheapskate. It depends on what your wallet likes. Yes, I am partly Asian why do you ask?  It's December, the holidays are around the corner and it's only once every 12 years right? Good thing I wore my Christmas hat, I am planning to wear it the entire month of December. I told my secret Santa he should get me a Christmas dress this year. Or else let's say I won't be singing Santa baby down the chimney you go. Well, I can tell you one thing it is certainly worth bringing your kids to. Maybe a date night idea or a family trip? Here are 5 reasons why you should visit the circus.  Update the circus their ticket prices have become somewhat cheaper, these are their last days in Suriname. So be sure to get your circus tickets on time.

                                             1. To enjoy the giggles

There is no better medicine than laughter. Even science agrees, don't believe me? Look it up, and it feels quite relaxing to let loose and be entertained. It takes you out of the everyday boring cycle and makes you release tension better. At that moment I knew I wanted to do more stuff like this. Yes watch a clown and laugh at what makes some kids scared. That gives you some sense of power. Or is it all in my mind? Come on we all do it, don't be afraid auntie will scare away the bad clown. But at the circus, it seems the kids these days are braver than we are,  not one cry for Mr clown. He was a good distraction for the stage to be changed by the crew. It amazes me that without saying a word he could get the entire crowd to burst into giggles now that is the kind of art that is worth my money. I admit they certainly put in a lot of effort into organizing and logistics to make to show come to life.

                                                  2. Meeting Bumblebee

Have you ever wanted to meet the Bumblebee? He seems to be traveling without Optimus Prime this time. The circus is your chance to see Bumblebee they even give you the opportunity to take a picture in exchange for a fee. Okay maybe not your taste, but don't you think the kids would think this is cool? They will remember and treasure these moments. No, the circus didn't pay me to write this. Maybe they should, I accept hot dogs, tip for the circus people when you visit countries like ours add spicy to the menu. Surinamese people like spicy food, and we like to have options.

Does anyone know if Bumble bee does birthday parties?

                                                     3. The awesome dancers

I have to admit the circus certainly has some great and risky dancers. Try not to get too dizzy when they show some of those acrobatic skills. Make sure you get a good view, it wasn't so crowded when I went but slowly the people do pour in. And then the good seats at the circus are lost.  Being on time means you are avoiding the line. I don't like standing in long lines, let's say patience isn't my strongest virtue. The view will be worth it and the dancers won't disappoint. The bright side of being early is you don't really have to worry about sitting behind a couple of tall people blocking your view.

                                        4. Witnessing some daring acrobatics.

Some people are afraid of heights, admit it. Would you have the courage to do some of the stunts the people working for the circus do? I would maybe try it once in my life and write a story about it. But to do this every day as a job? You can definitely see it in their smiles. They are used to doing this every day!
I respect these routines because you have to master a skill. Some of it might be an illusion but still, this face is amused by it and I am sure you might be as well.

                                           5. A world full of possibilities.

I admit I had fun going to the circus, I noticed the routine is entirely different from the one I saw 12 years ago. It was a good stress reliever you get to laugh and enjoy the acts. For live entertainment, they do a great job. The stage, the props, and the best part are where they keep you entertained. Even when the scene needs a change. I also noticed all the kids having fun, you can tell they were excited, for someone with imagination it's a world full of possibilities.
