Story Time: Lunch at the Coffee Box
Hello again, today is a beautiful day. I am sure everyone noticed the beautiful number combination of 2-2-2022. Congratulations to all the love birds that decided to make this their special day. Rest assured, today I am not writing to you guys about the date! I am here to talk about this cute little spot located in Paramaribo. It's called The Coffee box and we decided to have our lunch there. The Coffee Box is located in the Lala Rookh weg #22. What a coincidence with all the number 2's that I am confronted with today. When you are in the Lala Rookh weg, it's difficult to miss The Coffee Box. Their modern and wooden decor is immediately noticeable. Even at night, you can see their bright lamps shine on their terras from the street.
Don't mind my natural look, I don't want to be one of those bloggers that feed you a picture-perfect life all the time. Nope, that is never going to be me. I was hungry, I wanted lunch. A Queen had a lot of stuff to do. Because these projects don't run and operate themself. Why else would I waste my time participating in all those things and gathering tools and knowledge if I didn't think that I could use it to bring great things to life? You could say that in my life I am creative in different ways, and known in many ways haha. The Coffee Box was close by and we decided to step in with our hungry stomachs. It wasn't so crowded during the lunch hour today, when you step into the restaurant you have to register before you get seated at a table. That is a good thing because we are still in this scary pandemic. The pandemic has slowed down my adventures a little bit, but on the other hand, it has done great things for my writing and my networking abroad. One thing is for sure, girls who love to use their brains like I do need a good meal. The waitress presented us with their Lunch menu.
Their Lunch menu provides a lot of different options. We decided to order pasta because I was in an alfredo pasta mood and we also ordered their Pollo Magnifico. I saw that they had Pistachio Frappe on the menu, I wanted to taste that because I know I like Pistachio nuts. I was curious to find out what it would taste like. We waited for a little while and the first thing to show up on our table was the pistachio frape.
The Pistachio Frape from The Coffee Box lunch menu The Pistachio Frape certainly did look the part, but if I have to be blunt with you It didn't taste like Pistachio. It was so sweet and watery that I couldn't even sugar coat this one. Take the positive feedback Coffee Box, no hard feelings. You guys have awesome aesthetics and it's a great place to take pictures but the frape needs some improvement! |
My Pasta was neatly presented on my table, it looked so beautiful. I added the cheese to my dish. Because I love Cheese in my pasta. I went for the Creamy Alfredo Penne Pasta. My favorite kind of pasta. I have ordered from many different restaurants in Suriname. When it comes to taste the pasta was average compared to other kinds of pasta that we have tasted. It was creamy and I did like the black olives in it, but it wasn't the best pasta that I have had in this country.
Now let's get to the Pollo Magnifico, the burger and fries were nicely presented and they did look delicious. However, the bun was a bit dry and crumbly. The bun didn't taste fresh, and you can't really eat the burger with your hands. The slices of chicken that they put in the burger will end up falling out of your burger when you try. The meat had a good seasoning, I liked the taste but it was a bit too salty for us. Overall it didn't compare to KoKoBana, but that is just our honest opinion. When it comes to aesthetics they win, but the dishes that we tried lacked that satisfying feeling that we foodies crave. We paid for our meal and went our way. Here is a short video of our lunch at The Coffee Box in Paramaribo. I can't wait to share my next adventures with you guys!
