🚀 Back to Commewijne: A Fresh Take on Warung Shaqien! 🍲 Greetings, Story Time friends! It’s your captain, Shachem Lieuw from Story Time Productions, reporting for duty! 🛸 Today, we are taking a trip down memory lane and heading back to the beautiful district of Commewijne ! 🌿 As you might remember from my previous blog posts, I’ve featured the legendary Warung Shaqien before. But hold onto your seats, because things have changed—and for the better! 💨 A Cool Upgrade ❄️ You know how the Surinamese sun likes to turn up the heat? Well, Warung Shaqien has officially leveled up with new indoor AC dining ! It is the perfect sanctuary to escape the tropical blaze while digging into some classic Javanese comfort food. 🍜 The Feast 🍱 We kept it traditional with some of my absolute favorites—the very same dishes you’ve seen during my many Story Time transmissions: Long Tong Tahoe: Perfectly textured and seasoned. 🍢 Saoto Soup with Ketjap: The ultimate soul-soother. 🥣 I also dec...
Hello, my dearest Story Time friends from around the world, I am back with another Story Time episode. As you know, I like to explore my beautiful tropical country, Suriname, a lot. I also enjoy taking you along on my travel adventures. This adventure was one I went on last year, but I finally got the time to post about it.😤🕒🕓🕔🕕🕖🕗🕘 They do say that time goes by fast when you are having fun for a reason! I've got so many more awesome adventures to share with you shortly. Make sure to subscribe when you see the Story Time U.F.O. pop-up on your screen, or use the follow option in the menu bar. On this particular travel adventure, we were touring a couple of villages in Sipaliwini (Jaw Jaw and Gingiston), and that's where we got to explore and discover new places. For example, Jaw Jaw A Tela. The beautiful, relaxing resort is in the village of Jaw Jaw. After we left Jaw Jaw, we passed what I call the sand islands in the Suriname River. I have passed these sand islands more times than I probably can remember. I did stop on one of the sand beaches before, but to find those videos, it's going to be a deep dig in the memory cards that I have filled with content. 😅😂 At least we're getting there, and as you've noticed, I've been posting more often. That's because I have so many incredible adventures I want to take you on that I get so excited and try to finish them all when I can. This tropical country is huge! We are bigger than most islands that are drifting in the Caribbean. Suriname might have a small population, but when it comes to its extensive land and places to explore, it's another Story. Most Surinamese people haven't even gotten as deep into the interior as I have. And I haven't even seen anything yet! I just love going to all the wonderful places that the locals take me to.
Call it a gift or call it a curse, but somehow I have been blessed with many friends across the country. If it weren't for them, my introverted self would never have left the house. I just wish I had filmed more of my adventures for you earlier. But it's never too late, and I am here and determined to show you more awesome spots in our tropical rainforest. Through my camera lens, I'll show you why Suriname is called the beating heart of the Amazon rainforest. We saw some boys working on the sand island that's located in the middle of the river. They were scooping the sand with a plastic plate and filling it into bags. Now that's some determination to put in the hard work. Without using a shovel, they had already filled up so many bags.
We spoke to them and they didn't mind us taking pictures at all. Shout out to those friendly locals! 💓 There are multiple such sand islands in these parts of the Suriname River. Some of them have been transformed into soccer fields. 😂😁⚽ From these sandy beaches, you have a beautiful view. Just imagine what it would be like to have a romantic picnic on this beach. 😍😍 If you plan on visiting, make sure to wear your slippers. The sand can get pretty hot under this tropical sun. After our adventure on this Surinamese sand island, it was time to go home. We head back to Atjonie, where we hop into the car to make our way back to the capital, Paramaribo. This might have been a long trip, but it was certainly worth it. And at least not as long as some of the trips that I have taken. I made a video about my visit to this Surinamese river island in Sipaliwini for you guys to enjoy. I hope you like it. Until next time, right here on Story Time! Thank you for the fun, Sipaliwini. I get to enjoy your breathtaking beauty each time.💕
