Late-night food adventure at Popeyes Lelydorp

Hello, my dearest Story Time friends from around the world, how have you been? Well, I had one rough week.😓😒 I hope your days were a lot better, though. 💓People often like to write and share about the positive things in their lives. I'm not always someone who opens up like a book to read. That energy I'd rather put into creating the books that you enjoy reading. 😻 At least that's one of the good things happening in my life. Okay, you have the good and the bad. Life is giving me quite a beating, and this wasn't how I imagined 30 to be. Something that I hyped up a couple of months ago on my blog. Now I'm just breathing and taking the smacks in my face as I realize it's a part of my journey. It helped me understand my strengths, but it also exposed my weaknesses. I'm not going to burden you with the details of what I call a stroke of bad luck or maybe an intensive adventure the universe is preparing me for? Sometimes I like to mention these things in my stories to remind people that it's all part of the game of life, as someone once taught me. We all go through difficult episodes and struggle, and for a while, it played with my mind as I struggled to find time to breathe, write, and create. Hence, it's been a while, and I've had many more unfinished adventures to complete. I know this is a foodie adventure, but not all adventures have a happy beginning, twist, or end! When I'm facing a tough time, I remind myself of all the self-love articles I've written. That's what keeps me inspired to believe in myself! In this rough chapter of my life, most of the time, that's the only thing I hold onto. But this hasn't been my first rodeo with bad experiences!😤 I might judge it as the toughest right now, a momentarily vague truth, as life's priorities constantly shift.😒 The reason I'm starting this Story Time adventure is to inspire others not to give up, no matter how rough their week was! I met someone and he told me about the bad things that happened to him, and although in my mind he had a mere scar compared to my inner bleeding, he spoke about depression. He told me about how he felt like his life was falling apart because he was falling behind compared to his peers. That's when I realized that we fall for the illusions. We're so fed with positive stories on social media and in society that we create imaginary standards and timelines in our heads. I, on the other hand, am aware that there is always someone stuck in a deeper gutter. But I am also mindful that in the end, it won't matter. When our coffins hit the ground, there's no more incentive to stress. 😥😠That's the sad, less glamorous reality of life. So, it doesn't matter if I'm doing well or poorly, I'll always root for you!💓💋 If you're grounded, it brings more stability to our society, and for you! As I make mistakes and learn, I leave this hopefully eternal wisdom scattered across the World Wide Web. Now, back to the Story Time foodie adventure! It feels good to be writing and sharing new adventures with you guys again! Sometimes I really just need to get away from all the noise and people around me, to get some time to write my stories.😣 It's scary how life forced me to make these adjustments! I often get the feeling that the people around me don't understand 😪. This is the part of the story where the superhero shows up late for class, work, and everything else they've got going on in their life because they were out saving the world. Nevertheless, our hero has an enjoyable food adventure to unravel for you. Our late-night food adventure takes us to Popeyes Lelydorp in Suriname. That's right, Louisiana's Kitchen in Lelydorp! It all started one night when I was tired from working and felt overwhelmed by a lot of things! I was hungry, and my friend suggested 'Let's go to Lelydorp to pin some cash and get some Popeyes.' I didn't want to leave my house, especially since I felt stressed out and had a lot of paperwork to finish. But my friend insisted and said it would be good for me to get some fresh air. ( When will I learn to listen to my gut instinct? Inner me is already like Uggh, why you get into these situations!)👀😹😹 My friend offered to meet me, and that's how I ended up in Lelydorp.
We arrived at Popeye's, and one of the workers said that we weren't allowed to use a Mastercard to pay for our food. This is the first time I've experienced this. In the past, I've often used my foreign debit card without difficulties at Popeyes Lelydorp.
On top of that, finding a working atm in Lelydorp can be a headache, especially when it comes to foreign cards. That's why some locations also take an extra fee from your bill for card payments. When I finally found a working ATM, my money was deducted from my account, although I had not received any cash. If you're a tourist traveling to Suriname, be cautious and avoid taking any risks. Always have some money on hand!
In the following days, I heard many people complain about out-of-order ATMs nationwide. Many people in Lelydorp were also disappointed. An emotional man was complaining about how he couldn't afford to buy food for his child. 😱😰 Lately, I've also noticed that the situation in Suriname has become so demotivating for locals that many of my friends have left the country for good.
A decision I understand, but I'm not one of those people who want to abandon my beautiful country! It's tattooed in my heart! This is my home, and no matter how stressful the situation becomes or how limited the growth potential is for locals, we can still turn things around! It's not the first time this South American and Caribbean country has had to deal with a brain drain. I enjoy living and roaming with my people, who call this tropical place home! Let me explore the depths of my country and see how far I can take myself despite the odds!
I'm already breaking barriers by having the opportunity to take you guys along on my food and travel adventures! At Popeyes, we ordered the Spicy Chicken 4-piece meal, which includes fries and a drink. I love their bun and fries! The flavor included in the meal blends so well with Popeye's bun. I made a video for you guys about my late-night food adventure at Popeyes Lelydorp in Suriname. In this video, I'm also reviewing the apple pie on Popeye's dessert menu.
On the day I went, they were open until late at night because the next day was a national holiday.
On June 5, 2023, 150 years of Indian Immigration were celebrated in Suriname.
The descendants of the first Indian immigrants have integrated well with the other cultures in Suriname. A country where we share each other's food and culture with love! In my future blog posts, I'll share aspects of Indian culture you can find in Suriname. I look forward to conquering many more adventures as the universe guides me! Wish me lots of love and good luck! I'll share some more stories with you when I have the chance. That's why it means a lot to me when you jump onto that Story Time U.F.O. and subscribe to my blog!👽👾By becoming a part of our tribe, the Story Time saucer will zap my adventures straight to your inbox. 🛸
