Koewarasan Birthday Party

 Koewarasan Birthday Party

"Shachem Lieuw In Koewarasan"

Greetings from Tropical Suriname! I'm taking you to a Surinamese Javanese Birthday Party in Koewarasan in this Story Time episode. A close acquaintance of mine was celebrating her birthday. I couldn't resist sharing the Surinamese party vibes with my dearest readers. Koewarasan is one of the 7 resorts in the district of Wanica. When we arrived at the party, it was crowded! The band was busy giving a speech, and my friends and I didn't want to be rude. We took a walk to a nearby BBQ restaurant. The last time I had been in this part of Koewarasan, this place didn't exist. However, it has now become a small recreational spot in Koewarasan. There are even pool tables available for play. Music fuelled the atmosphere. After our short, curious stroll, we returned to the party to congratulate the birthday woman. She looked gorgeous in her outfit, which featured a fabric that hinted at her Javanese cultural roots. The party quickly became overcrowded, and most people came to dance. The band is popular among the locals. The floor was filled with dancers. They were all in sync with their Potjo Potjo moves. Potjo Potjo is a dance that has become a symbol of the modern Javanese dancing culture. People from other cultures join the dance floor and swing along. Others travel all around the country to showcase their Potjo Potjo skills during different events. This is the beauty of Suriname and its people.
Hidden somewhere underneath all the economic stress the country faces, our people remain passionate and vibrant in expressing and sharing their culture. Of course, no Surinamese party is complete without food. When it was time to call it a night, we left the vibrant dance floor behind us. Under the night sky, we found our way home and ended another day and chapter in this part of the Caribbean. I made a vlog of our night ou,t and I hope you enjoy watching it. I look forward to sharing more adventures with you soon. Are you traveling soon? Let Expedia save you the stress! Book your flights, accommodations, and car rentals in one place.
