Beni's Christmas Palace In Suriname

Beni's Christmas Palace In Suriname Just like in the photo above this text, I am okay but I am not completely okay. I feel awful on the inside and for a long time it was difficult to find the motivation to return to blogging.  Tomorrow's Christmas, so I mustered all of my strength to at least finish another episode. I've been gone for a while because as usual, life got hectic. But this time in a bad way! As you guys know a while ago I started a company in Suriname. Most of my days were spent creating Story Time episodes, working, doing social work or going along to get a taste of the field.  When we go to clients, sometimes I get to see awesome places. Or in between on our journeys we tend to make pitstops. This Story Time episode is supposed to be about my visit to Beni's Christmas palace. But let me tell you about what happened after that first. Just so you can understand how my Christmas spirit, transformed in the energy of mourning. People see the good, but I'l...

XO Lounge

Story Time: Late night dinner at XO Lounge

' Shachem Lieuw at XO lounge restaurant in Paramaribo"

Hello, my dearest Story Time friends from around the world. How have you been? I am excited to finally share this story with you. It took me a while but slowly I am getting there. So make sure you are subscribing by entering your email address when you see that Story Time U.F.O. pop up that way you won't miss any of my new stories. And boy oh boy do I have a lot of adventures to take you on. I love living life and getting to explore the world like I do. Seeing different places, going on food adventures, writing about self-love, and poetry, sharing the journey of inspiring people, or just creating stories for you guys is just another way for me to express my soul and share it with the world. I like to think that I am getting better at that. Especially looking back at how I started, being an introvert. But hey in this world we introverts can have fun too! Your support for the Story Channel means so much to me. But in this Story Time travel adventure, we are going on another food adventure in Suriname. This beautiful South American/ Caribbean country that I call home has many food options. It's like a global cuisine at the heart of the Amazon rainforest thanks to its multicultural society. Our ancestors came from different parts of the world during the colonial era of Suriname. Along with their religion and habits, they also brought along food! Thank goodness, you have a delicious variety of dishes to choose from during your travel to Suriname. In today's Story Time I am taking you guys for some late-night dinner at X) lounge in Paramaribo. Paramaribo is the capital of Suriname in case you were wondering. Adventuring through the capital you will find many clues of our colonial past like for example the old wooden dutch buildings that are conserved and protected as a part of a Unesco heritage site. At the corner of the Gemenlandsweg and Riekelaan, you will find a restaurant located in the more modern part of the city. This restaurant is called XO lounge and it is located in the same building as Ice and Candy, and Lucky Twins restaurant. I have good memories of doing that Ice and Candy interview as one of the first foodie interviews on my blog. Click here to read about that boba and milk tea adventure. I love that you have a beautiful and windy view of the street when you sit on the balcony of the restaurant. The interior decoration is simple but also elegant and classy at the same time. You don't need to reserve in advance if you want to eat at the XO lounge. They mostly serve pasta, beef, steak, fries, and some other dishes. Follow this link if you want to view their menu online. Once I arrived at XO lounge I found a comfortable place to sit. It was a bit cold during the night. If you are like me and you are bad at dealing with the cold bring a jacket or dress a bit warm if you visit this restaurant during the night time. But that's just me, I like to think that I am one of those people who are extra sensitive to the cold.😋😜 The waitress who helped us was friendly, she didn't make us wait too long and helped us to connect to the wifi so we could view the XO lounge menu online.  Technology keeps evolving and lately, I have noticed a lot of restaurants incorporating technology into their business like this. I browsed through the menu and because I am a pasta lover I had to order their Alfredo pasta with shrimp alongside my pina colada. The pina colada had a good balance of coconut and pineapple. It was just what I needed on such a breezy night.

I loved how creamy and cheesy the pasta was. I prefer more shrimp in my pasta but it satisfied my stomach. It was a filling meal, I certainly recommend that you try the shrimp alfredo pasta from XO lounge during your visit. We also ordered a burger with some fries. The sauces went well with the crunchy fries. They weren't too soggy, and the burger had a well-seasoned patty. If you like fries and a meat sandwich instead the chicken burger won't disappoint. They also serve a lot of pastries. I ordered the Passion fruit cheesecake. I love passion fruit cheesecake ever since I first tried it in Rotterdam. The Cheesecake that they sell at XO lounge is affordable compared to other places where they sell cheesecake in Suriname.

If it's not busy you won't wait too long for your food. I went on a weekday so it wasn't too crowded at XO lounge but if you go on a weekend they can get quite busy. I hope you guys enjoyed this Story Time episode, don't forget to subscribe that way you won't miss any of the adventures I will be sharing with you in the future.  I made you guys a video of my visit to XO lounge restaurant in Suriname, enjoy and until next time right here on Story Time!
